She was called to the Nigerian Bar as a barrister and solicitor in 1989 and qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales in 2010. She is a recipient of the British Chevening Scholarship.
Law Society accreditation is assessed against a solicitor personally. It is not something a firm can buy. Ogechi Duru holds three: Family Law, Children Law, and Immigration and Asylum. She is a member of Resolution, and the firm holds Lexcel, the Law Society's practice management standard.
She is an accredited senior caseworker and supervisor in immigration and asylum, and her family and children work is for parents, grandparents and foster carers. Immigration, human rights and asylum claims make up a substantial part of the practice.
